[2012.07.15-18] Borders of Knowledge: The 3rd Flying University of Transnational Humanities | |
The Research Institute of Comparative History and Culture (RICH) at Hanyang University is proud to host the '3rd Flying University of Transnational Humanities (FUTH)' from July 15 (Sun) through July 18 (Wed) at Hanyang University's Paiknam Library. Part of the 'Humanities Korea' project being carried out by RICH, the Flying University of Transnational Humanities has been held every year in Seoul, Korea since 2010 with scholars and graduate students participating from across the globe.
With 'Borders of Knowledge' as its theme, the 3rd FUTH aims to critically address the multi-layered and multi-faceted processes in which borders of knowledge are constructed and or erased, beyond the existing epistemological framework which presumes the movement and spread of knowledge across borders as a given. As the FUTH has done in 2010 and 2011, this year's FUTH is also expected to provide an arena for problematizing the borders of the nation-state and for experimenting in creative and challenging humanistic ideas to overcome the nation-state paradigm, moving one step closer to envisioning an alternative transnational academic community.
